How to Fix ClickFunnels Domain Setup Not Completed

ClickFunnels Domain Setup Not Completed

A domain name is like an address that points to a website. If the set-up is incomplete, a user will receive an error message. Not only does this result in a bad experience, it is also bad for SEO. This is not unusual, especially if you are hosting your domain from a registrar different from your ClickFunnels account.

How do you fix the error of ClickFunnels domain setup not completed? I will walk you through these steps today. By the end of this tutorial, your domain name must point to your ClickFunnels landing page.

Take note that there are different reasons why you would get this error. As such, you need to read each one and see which applies the most to your situation.

Problem and Solution #1: Your Domain Name Servers Are Not Pointing to ClickFunnels

Since you built your web pages on ClickFunnels, then all your files are hosted by ClickFunnels. A problem where the domain set up is incomplete can be caused by your name servers not pointing to ClickFunnels.

A good example is if you bought your domain name from GoDaddy, which, for the purposes of this example, we will call domainabc.com.

Since it is GoDaddy that hosts your domain, a person or browser that looks for domainabc.com will be routed to GoDaddy.

The problem is that GoDaddy does not know what website to show for that domain, unless you tell it to point to your ClickFunnels landing pages. This is called a domain name server, also referred to as DNS.

In this case, you need to get your nameservers from your ClickFunnels account, and then copy and paste these nameservers in your registrar’s DNS settings.

Nameservers usually start with NS, like “ns.03.abcdefg.com”. They come in pairs, and you need to add them manually in your registrar’s CNAME.

Problem and Solution #2: The Propagation is Not Complete

After adding the nameservers of ClickFunnels to your domain registrar, do not expect it to work right away. There is a thing called propagation time—the time it takes for the two systems to sync. In many occasions, this takes only an hour, but be prepared to wait for 72 hours.

To check if this is what is causing the problem, go to your registrar’s dashboard. Look for the domain in question, and then check if you have successfully added the CNAME, or the nameservers. If you did, and the spelling is correct, all you have to do is to wait.

For some registrars, you will see a red X beside the nameservers. If you see these red X marks, check if you have typed the nameservers correctly. A single error like a missing dot can cause errors. If the spelling is correct and yet the red X mark is still there, wait for 72 hours and give it time to propagate.

It will not hurt to check daily. You will never know if the propagation will be completed in less than 24 hours. If it did, you can now start marketing your funnel and get some sales. Never market your sales pages until the propagation is complete, or your site visitors will get an empty page and an error.

Summary

There can be a variety of causes as to why the ClickFunnels domain setup not completed error occurs. The most common reason is that you have not set-up the domain server to your ClickFunnels account.
